My Facebook news feed is full of Fathers' Day tidbits, including a Story Corps piece from a single dad who adopted a troubled seven year old boy, and the NPR song of the day - a musical tribute to fathers from hard-rock band Guyz Nite.
Every day on Facebook I enjoy updates from friends on what is going on in their lives and from my favorite news and information sources on what is going on in the world. This Fathers' Day brought two that I particularly loved. The first is from StoryCorps, a non-profit project dedicated to celebrating and recording the stories of everyday people. In this Fathers' Day installment Brian Miller talks with his son Johnathan Emerson about the process of becoming a father after adopting his son ten years ago, the fear, the trials and the moment he knew he was a father.
The second was a Song of the Day from NPR, "This One's For Dad", by Guyz Nite. As a mother of sons I just love to watch these boys singing their hearts out in praise of dads. I dare you to listen without smiling - I particularly love the part where they p
romise to write a song for Mom next year! Take a listen.
And Happy Fathers' Day to all you dads, raising all kinds of kids.
